What are the cholesterol content foods?

I think this question is important as we must know what foods contains high cholesterol and what food is low cholesterol and more healthy for us to contain. Other than food, the way to process the food may also increase the cholesterol of the food too. It is good to aware what kind of foods are high cholesterol so that we choose not to eat them or reduce frequency of consumption of those foods.

First, what are the high cholesterol foods we should avoid for?

Most of the animal based food contains high cholesterol, other tasty food like cheese, eggs, steaks also are high cholesterol food. I have get a good information of a list of cholesterol food sources as below:

Types of Food Avoid
Meats and Seafood
  • Organ meets such as liver, hear, brain
  • Red meat: beef, duck, mutton, game meat
  • Skin of poultry
  • Fatty meats such as sausages, bacon, hams and other cured meats
  • Seafood: squid, prawn, shellfish such as mussels, oysters, crabs, fish roe, canned fish in oil
Dairy Whole milk and its products like cheese, butter, yogurt and ice-cream
Eggs Egg yolks and egg products
Oils and fats Coconut milk and foods prepared with coconut milk, such as laksa, curry, palm oil and lard
Confectionary and sweets Cakes, eg. butter cakes, cookies, pies and pastries
Miscellaneous
  • Fast food such as burgers, French fries, fried chicken, pizza
  • Limit deep-frying, roasting in fat

However, there are some foods that contains HDL cholesterol is encouraged to eat within average amount. For example, fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel and cod, are rich in heart boosting Omega 3 fatty acids. Nuts, seeds and beans has beneficial nutrients like phytochemicals that can help to improve cholesterol levels. Example of seeds and bens like flaxseeds, psyllium seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, soy bens, chickpeas, red beans, peas, etc. Garlic is also highly encouraged to eat to lower down cholesterol level.

Other good foods are vegetables and fruits like apples, guava, star fruit, oranges, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, spinach, etc. Drinking Avocado fruit juice 1/4 servings daily is also help to reduce cholesterol level effectively. Other fiber rich foods and grains like oatmeal, wheat, brown rice can also help to get rid of cholesterol.

Last but not least, it is not just simply eating healthily and avoid the food contains high cholesterol, you have to start a healthy life style including frequent exercise, release your stress, avoid drinking liquor and avoid smoking. This is the only way to cut your cholesterol level to normal level naturally and effectively.
