Statins ( HMG-CoA reductase inhibtors)

This medicine reduce the cholesterol by cut down the amount of triglycerides in the body and it will boost good cholesterol (HDL) also.

Niacin (Vitamin B)

When this Niacin is consumed in large doses, it can increase HDL cholesterol and with the effect of more HDL cholesterol the LDL cholesterol level will bring down. However, over dose of niacin will have harmful effects on the liver, so it is better to take niacin only with doctor’s prescription.

Yes, definitely. Like other medicines, these drugs can cause many side effects. Below are some symptoms of the side effects of the drugs:

  • Muscle aches or weakness
  • skin turning red and warm

  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea or constipation
