From chemical terms, fatty acids consists of a chains of carbon bonded together. To understand easier, Omega 3 fatty acids is recently found as a natural nutrient especially found in deep sea fish like salmon, tuna, Trout, etc.

In early 1980s, many studies were done about this newly found nutrient. The result shows that the Omega 3 fatty acids in the fish can protect fish hearts. This fatty acids are poly unsaturated fatty acids. Many researches also find out Omega 3 fatty acids can help lower triglycerides and increase HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol). It helps to prevent blood from clogged. In addition, there are many evidences show that Omega 3 may be able to lower high blood pressure too.

Hence, many scientists and nutritionist encourage us to eat those fish with high Omega 3 in content. Due to this benefit, you can found many fish oil or omega 3 fatty acid products sold in pharmacy. However, it is suggested you to eat more fish to get this Omega 3 nutrients in a more natural way. This is the best effective way to absorb the nutrient.

Where to find Omega 3 fatty acids?

Basically, most of the fish contain omega 3 fatty acids, but salmon, mackerel, sardines and herrings contains more concentrated omega 3. It is suggest to eat 1-2 times weekly. Other food sources of omega 3 include soybeans and tofu, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, etc.

So, there are so many natural food contains omega 3 fatty acid. It is better to eat those foods instead of taking medication or pills of omega 3.
